Discussions are a behind-the-scenes product of each National Weather Service office. They are often where forecasters express their level of confidence in their predictions, and where they mention possible stormy weather they're not yet ready to announce publicly. Being able to read a forecast discussion will give you an idea of what weather to expect if the forecast is wrong.

To understand forecast discussions requires some knowledge of meteorology and the pilot's shorthand that forecasters often use.
